<h3>Maui Entry Level Photovoltaic Design and Installation</h3>
<p>The Entry Level Photovoltaic Training Program is a comprehensive training program that prepares students to become NABCEP certified.  It will train participants in the principles of small business and residential and/or commercial PV installation and design. The program includes training in the principles of sustainability, energy and electrical systems, renewable energy generation, project and worksite safety, and PC system design and installation planning. Attendees will be trained to design and plan for PV installation systems for residential and small business customers and work with customers in the field.  It is ideal for future employees who will be involved in small business and residential scale PV design and installation or residential and small business customers, helping them determine how PV technologies can be optimized to play a role in meeting their energy demands, as well as how much PV technology solutions will cost and how quickly they will pay for themselves.  Participants will also acquire leadership and communications skills that will serve them as invaluable tools to advance within their professional fields and careers.</p>

<li><strong>Certification:</strong> Prerequisite and preparation for Entry Level North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) Certification.</li>
<li><strong>Hours:</strong> 60 non-credit hours</li>

<li><strong>Times:</strong> 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM</li>

		<description><![CDATA[The Sustainable Living Institute of Maui (SLIM) would like to...]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Sustainable Living Institute of Maui (SLIM) would like to gladly introduce you to the new UHMC community garden, funded by Community Work Day (CWD) and the Ulupono Initiative.</p>
<p>The garden will be located between the upper, North-West side of the main parking lot and the UHMC educational fields, directly across from the Maui Arts and Cultural Center&#8217;s main entrance.</p>
<p>Throughout the next 3-4 weeks, the garden space will be going through renovations as workers remove trees, install irrigation lines, deliver soil and overall, prepare the land for for a sufficient growing opportunity.</p>
<p>The garden will be opening on May 10th with a &#8220;ribbon cutting&#8221; event which will include refreshments, planting, and an imperative garden blessing. We encourage you to save the date, and come join in on the fun as the spring semester comes to a close.</p>
<p>The community garden will be available to all students, faculty and staff members along with members of our community who enjoy growing their own food while socializing and interacting with others who share the same interests.</p>

<p>SLIM&#8217;s recent &#8220;dumpster dive&#8221; was the first step in developing UHMC&#8217;s Zero Waste Plan.  The &#8220;dive&#8221; helped to establish benchmarks on waste composition to assess how much recyclable, compostable, and reusable materials were currently going to the landfill.</p>
