Electric vehicles have arrived on Maui! As mobile energy storage facilities, EVs are a convergence of energy, transportation, and telecommunications sectors. This 3-hour jargon-busting workshop introduces EVs and explains their role in reducing our dependence on fossil fuels, increasing our use of renewable energy, and achieving Hawaii’s clean energy targets. Participants will embrace new concepts such as range anxiety, state of charge, and the unique challenges of building a charging infrastructure, with invaluable lessons learned from best practices elsewhere.
Instructor Bio: Anne Ku is the director of the Maui Electric Vehicle Alliance, a Department of Energy-funded project of UHMC to develop a plan for getting Maui ready for EVs. Before moving to Maui, she traveled extensively as editor of “Global Energy Business” and “Energy IT” magazines for McGraw-Hill. She holds a PhD in Decision Sciences from London Business School and a BSc. in Electrical Engineering from Duke University.
