NEW: Sustainability Facility Professional Certification training

For the first time in Hawaiʻi, the International Facility Managers Association (IFMA) Sustainability Facility Professional (SFP) Professional Certification Course will be offered through UH West Oahu at UH Maui College on Fridays and Saturdays, 8:30am-5:00pm, October 21-22, November 4-5, and November 18-19, 2016 with instructor Cliff Rutherford.

This amazing 6-day workshop leads to one of the most premier and internationally recognized professional credentials for managers of facilities of all types.

The IFMA Sustainability Facility Professional Course:

In partnership with the IFMA Hawai’i Chapter, UH West O’ahu and UH Maui College Office of Continuing Education & Training (OCET) and the Sustainable Living Institute of Maui are providing this 40-hour (6-day) course that includes a solid foundation in current building operations and best practices in order to build and maintain modern energy-efficient facilities and systems.  The training consists of the following three main areas of instruction:  Strategy and Alignment of Sustainable Facility Management, Managing Sustainable Facilities, and Operating Sustainable Facilities.

Note that all participants must bring a laptop computer to access internet quizzes throughout the course.

Inaugural Reduced Rates:

The regular price of this course is $2,250 ($2,000 + $250 professional SFP credential fee).  For this special inaugural presentation, due to generous support by the Ingersoll Rand Corporation, Trane Corporation, and Hawai`i Energy, a significantly reduced price for the course is available to Hawai’i facilities management professionals and to full-time UH West O’ahu and UH Maui College students.  The first 10 UH West O’ahu or UH Maui College students and the first 10 qualified individuals whose primary job responsibility is facility/property management in Hawai`i pay only $450 for the course because of the support of these sponsors.

Please note that participants must also be residents of Honolulu, Hawaii and Maui Counties to receive these rates and for the facility/property management category, the participant must have more than one year’s experience in operating/supporting the facility or property of a Honolulu, Hawaii or Maui County electric utility rate payer (limit one participant at this rate from any particular company or organization).  Also note that community college students from other UH campuses will be considered on a space-available and technology-available basis at the $450 rate.  The $450 special sponsorship-funded rate is subject to verification and approval to receive.  (Note there is a small processing fee charged at time of registration.)

In addition, a special introductory reduced rate for additional participants and the general public for this one-time only, inaugural course offering, is only $1,750 (contingent on space availability).

All participants must agree to take the SFP exam and to take the exam to receive the reduced rates indicated above.  Participants also agree to share the outcome of the SFP test with UHWO and its funders.  The introductory rates are not conditional on passing the exam; however, auditors of the course who want to participate without taking the quizzes and final exam must pay the full course price of $2,250.
