This course will introduce participants to small wind systems, including wind generator theory, operation, site evaluation, installation, service and safety. It will be a combination of classroom training, hands-on exercises, and field experience that provides students with a broad, solid foundation in wind energy. The program topics will include wind theory, safety, design, electrical basics, metering, grid and interconnected services, code, zoning, and ordinance requirements, OHSH training, and wind turbine trouble-shooting. Maui College installed a wind spire this year, which will be used in conjunction with the class labs.
*Some training funds may be available through grant funding through Maui Workforce Development (808) 984-2091.
**Grant funded; based on income and experience. Funded by the State Energy Strategic Partnership (SESP).
