Renewable Energy-Wind Turbine Design

Small Wind Turbine Design and Installation

This course will introduce participants to small wind systems, including wind generator theory, operation, site evaluation, installation, service and safety.  It will be a combination of classroom training, hands-on exercises, and field experience that provides students with a broad, solid foundation in wind energy.  The program topics will include wind theory, safety, design, electrical basics, metering, grid and interconnected services, code, zoning, and ordinance requirements, OHSH training, and wind turbine trouble-shooting. Maui College installed a wind spire this year, which will be used in conjunction with the class labs.
