Youth Aquapono II: Greenhouse and Food Innovation Internship

 

Continuing from the Youth Aquapono I, participants will completed a 45-hour internship with work-based training in the UHMC aquaponics greenhouse and Maui Food Innovation Center.

The internships will provide hands-on, immersive experiences in producing and harvesting fresh produce in the commercial greenhouse, and developing recipes and producing value-added food products in the commercial kitchen.

Participants will complete an online eFoodHandler Basic Food Safety Course and the Applied Studies in Food Manufacturing course offered through the Maui Food Innovation Center at UHMC to learn Good Manufacturing Practices (GAP) in a certified kitchen lab.

The six days of class will be W, Th, Fri, October 26-28, 2018 and January 2-4, 2019.

FREE FOR MAUI STUDENTS IN GRADES 9-12, and recent graduates. $500 tuition sponsored by Kamehameha School.

To register in-person, visit the EdVenture front desk in the Laulima building on the University of Hawaii Maui College campus, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

We encourage you to register as early as possible before class begins to secure your place in the class and to prevent a class with low enrollment from being cancelled.
