This course will introduce participants to small wind energy systems (micro to 100kW turbines), including wind turbine design, site evaluation, installation, operation, service, and safety. It will be a combination of classroom training and site visits to provide students with a broad, solid foundation in wind energy for residential or businesses. The program topics will include wind theory, turbine design, electrical basics, grid interconnection, electrical code, zoning, safety, and wind turbine trouble shooting.
Instructor Bio: Cliff Ryden is president of Blue Pacific Energy, a renewable energy company focused on generating clean energy in Hawaii through the use of Wind Turbines and Solar PV. He is a LEED accredited professional with the US Green Building Council (LEED AP), RESNET certified for energy auditing, and entry NABCEP certified for photovoltaic design and installation. Cliff is passionate about the use of clean renewable energy and green building practices in the creation of sustainable communities in Hawaii.
